Charli XCX Honey Birdette Looks We’re Copying This Fall
Charli XCX has made Honey Birdette lingerie a recurring part of her latest music video looks — and it’s giving us plenty of inspiration for fall layering.
Fall layering usually means knits, jackets and button-downs. Charli XCX has another layer in mind: your bra.
Across her latest Music, Fashion, Film era, Charli has been wearing lingerie as something you’re actually supposed to see. In three of her newest music videos, she’s turned to Australian lingerie brand Honey Birdette, pairing lace bras with open shirts and loose layers instead of hiding them underneath.

It’s not exactly the “bra-as-a-top” look we’ve seen come and go over the years, either. By comparison, Charli’s version feels more relaxed. The lingerie is part of the outfit without becoming the entire outfit — just enough lace showing through to make everything else feel a little less expected.
For “Rock Music,” Charli wears Honey Birdette’s Anastasia Bra, a black lace balconette with nude illusion detailing. She goes much brighter in “Wink Wink” with the magenta Lorna Bra, then switches things up again in “Camera” with the powder-blue Annalise Bra.
And this fall, we’re wearing Anastasia.
Black lace is easy to work into the clothes most of us are already pulling back out once September hits. Wear it under an oversized white button-down with a few extra buttons left open, underneath a blazer with jeans, or let it peek out from a cardigan. Add a leather jacket and it immediately feels a little more Charli (wink wink).
Why Visible Lingerie Works for Fall
Of course, visible lingerie isn’t new, and Charli certainly didn’t invent it. What she does particularly well is make familiar styling ideas feel worth revisiting.
In fact, we saw that happen throughout the Brat era, when everything from a particular shade of green to tiny sunglasses and messy club-girl styling became wrapped up in the world around the album. Her clothes have become almost as closely watched as the music itself.
So, this feels like the next evolution of that.
Honey Birdette’s bras are feminine and polished; Charli wears them with an ease that takes away any sense of preciousness. Nothing feels overly styled or too perfect. Instead, the lace is simply there, mixed into an outfit the same way you might add a belt, a jacket or a great pair of boots.
And maybe that’s what makes the look feel so right for fall. The season already gives us an excuse to pile things on, leave shirts open and play with what’s underneath.
Charli just gave us a reason to make what’s underneath a lot more interesting.
